Our story began when planning our own wedding—between Harri, an American woman who spoke Italian, and Luca, an Italian man who immigrated to America. As we were planning our wedding in Rome, we learned firsthand the challenges families encounter when planning a Jewish American wedding in Italy. The cultural differences and language barrier can create a lot of miscommunications. Thankfully, we got through them and now work to make sure other couples have a smoother ride!

Why You Need a Wedding Coordinator in Italy

Planning a wedding in Italy is magical—but also complex. Language barriers, local customs and remote logistics can lead to misunderstandings and higher costs. For example, we offered guests the choice of steak or fish at a plated dinner, only to discover that most Italian venues charge double to offer two entree choices. We also discovered that because bridesmaids are not common in Italy, salons often charge extra to bring in additional stylists and makeup artists.

Jewish weddings require an even deeper level of local knowledge, as the small Italian Jewish community functions very differently from communities in America. In addition, because Italy is a largely Catholic country, some vendors are unfamiliar with Jewish wedding customs.
